What makes a product organic? Why is it important to choose organic resources over conventional ones? The answer stands beyond concerning of your own health, but over the benefit of the entire planet.
It comes from the care we must provide to our planet. Did you know that harvesting conventional cotton requires 2700 l of water only for 1 t-shirt? For each kilogram of conventional cotton, 10.000 l of water are being used, all while 2 billion of people don’t have access to fresh water…
Harvesting conventional cotton is also highly linked to climate change, as 1,8 tones of CO2 are produced for each tone of cotton, all while one year’s production consumes 16% of world’s insecticides and require 2 Billion $ worth of pesticides! No wonder it is also linked to a long list of illnesses, such as cancer, poisoning, miscarriages, birth defects or asthma for exposed people who work in this environment.
For all the reasons above, the conventional cotton has been named THE DIRTIEST CROP. Would you put that on your babies’ skin? Of course not.
Why choosing only organic cotton? The basic condition of the organic feature is that the resource can be processed without pollution, with minimal natural resources, resulting in a final product that produces no harm to the human body.
The organic cotton is harvested without chemicals, leaving the natural resources ( soil, air & water) free of pollution. This way, it produces 46% less CO2 than the conventional cotton.
Do you remember what we’ve written above about water, that for 1 t-shirt there are used 2700 l of water? Well, organic cotton uses only rain. Instead of pesticides and insecticides they make sure that beneficial insects control the unwanted pests.
By choosing organic cotton you choose to protect the planet and all its natural resources. You choose to not expose you and your family to harmful substances and you ensure a healthy environment for your children to grow up into. You choose to support trade fair environments.
All organic cotton should have GOTS certification, so pay attention when purchasing. Do you know what does it represent?
Having a GOTS certification means that the product contains 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝟗𝟓% 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜 𝐟𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐫, it is 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐬𝐮𝐛𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐨𝐱𝐢𝐜 𝐝𝐲𝐞𝐬, and the last, but a very important one, is that the production process 𝐞𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭 𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬, 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚 𝐝𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡.
With the deepest respect at heart towards parents & babies, 𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐈𝐒𝐀𝐑𝐀 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐆𝐎𝐓𝐒 𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐝!
Go organic, that’s the way to go!
